“From Vows to Victory” honors the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court Obergefell ruling legalizing same-sex marriage. Travis County was the first county in Texas to issue same sex marriage licenses, and our office, located at 5501 Airport Blvd, was the original site were couples gathered in celebration and obtained their marriage licenses. We want to recreate that same energy and enthusiasm by hosting a community vow renewal in the parking lot. Travis County Judges Hernández and Alvarenga are joining us to preside over the ceremony where we will invite couples who received their licenses on the first day to return and invite other couples to join in solidarity. We're imagining the program as both a vow renewal for couples (no matter when they were married) as well as a re-commitment to the greater movement, acknowledging that the fight for LGBTQ rights continues today.
